Floating Paperclip experiment
Test surface tension using a pencil, paperclip, water and a piece of tissue.
You will need:
Water
DRY Paperclip
Container of any kind
Tissue
Pencil or stirring stick
DIRECTIONS:
1. Pour water into your container.
2. Try placing the paperclip on top of the water.
Does it float?
3. Now remove the paperclip and place the tissue on the surface of the water.
4. Dry the paperclip and place it on top of the tissue.
5. Use the pencil to gently push the tissue down into the water.
Does it float now?*
